About the Projekt

The task of the “Participation and Sustained Development” programme was to examine girls’ and young women’s participation in three chosen areas, namely:

  • In politics
  • In environmental protection
  • In the sciences

Girls and young women are still clearly underrepresented in all three areas. It is at the same time not just a question of areas which are of great socio-political importance, but also areas which open up paths to professions with a promising future.

The studies have been carried out in three European countries, namely:

  • In Germany
  • In Italy
  • In Austria

On the basis of these studies, guidelines and recommendations have been developed as to how girls’ and young women’s equal involvement can be improved.

In addition, a plan of action for the involvement of girls has been developed which will transfer the results back into the areas mentioned above and thus be able to concretely change practice.

Term of the project: from January, 2002 to March, 2003
